What the LinkedIn post checker looks at

Each check reflects how people read LinkedIn: in a fast feed, mostly on a phone, deciding within a line or two whether to stop.

The hook

LinkedIn shows only the first few lines before "see more". If your opening is long, vague or starts with "I'm excited to announce", most readers never reach the good part. The checker scores your first line and shows roughly what appears above the fold. For more on openings, read our guide on how to become a LinkedIn influencer.

Length

LinkedIn allows 3,000 characters. Very short posts often lack substance, and posts near the limit lose readers halfway. Most strong text posts land between 500 and 1,900 characters.

Readability

Long sentences and dense paragraphs are hard to read on a phone. The checker flags sentences over about 20 words and paragraphs that would fill the screen.

Hashtags, links and tags

A few relevant hashtags are fine; a wall of them looks like an ad. Many creators see lower reach with a link in the post, so the checker suggests moving it to the first comment.

The ending

Posts that end with a real question give people a reason to reply. Engagement bait like "comment YES if you agree" does the opposite, and LinkedIn has said it demotes it.

LinkedIn post checker FAQ

Is the LinkedIn post checker free?

Yes. Check as many posts as you like, with no sign-up.

Do you store or post my draft?

No. Your post is checked inside your browser and is never sent to our servers. Nothing is posted to LinkedIn.

How long should a LinkedIn post be?

LinkedIn allows up to 3,000 characters. Most text posts that hold attention sit between 500 and 1,900 characters: long enough to tell one story or teach one idea, short enough to finish in under a minute.

How many hashtags should I use on LinkedIn?

Three or fewer is plenty. Hashtags help LinkedIn understand your topic, but a long list makes a post look like an ad and adds nothing for readers.

Does a high score guarantee more reach?

No tool can promise reach, because LinkedIn decides distribution. The checker catches the common writing issues that make people scroll past, so your post gets a fair chance.
